Mark was born under the second sign of the zodiac in Hartlepool, England, 1984. He was educated at the English Martyrs Catholic School and Sixth Form College where he failed his English Language GCSE twice. It wasn’t until a wonderful personal tutor took him under her wing, and opened his eyes to the beauty of writing, that he was able to smash that exam. A process that changed him for life.
In his mid-twenties, after a perplexing string of misguided events, including moving to Edinburgh for no good reason, Mark found his direction and that was writing. He enrolled on a creative writing course at his local F.E. college only to see it cancelled a week before starting… so he did I.T. instead. With a solid head for academia, Mark was good at exams and coursework bringing his journey to Nottingham Trent University where he met some incredible DnD friends and, of course, his amazing wife, Kiren.
After graduation, armed with hot air and useless expertise, Mark was sucked into the industry of software development where it chewed him up and spat him out. It was a long, painful road to travel but it brought him back to his true passion: Fantasy fiction. A path only made sustainable by his pillar, Kiren, for which, he loves her eternally.
When they’re not enthralled by work, Kiren and Mark take inspiration from their magnanimous family and England’s amazing historical architecture. They reminisce on the adventures they’ve shared: the Camino de Santiago, the Battle of Waterloo 200 year anniversary, Kilimanjaro.
Mark hopes to remain alive and fit till he is at least 82 years old to go on one last glorious adventure with Kiren at his side. Can you guess what that is?
